Feeder expendable refractories 
are manufactured under licence to . This licence allows access to the designs and specifications of refractory parts for Emhart gob feeders and includes also the Emhart refractory formulations of 333, 315 and 311.

Material

  • PSR-333 is the internationally renowned feeder expendable refractory material that combines long service life with excellent thermal shock properties.
  • PSR-333-FG is a derivative of PSR-333, re-formulated for the manufacture of thin-walled special shapes such as orifice rings.
  • PSR-315 combines a higher zirconia content with higher firing temperatures and offers enhanced corrosion characteristics for spout bowls and large diameter feeder tubes.
  • PSR-315-FG is a derivative of PSR-315, re-formulated for the manufacture of special long-life orifice rings.
  • PSR-311 is a high alumina composition used mainly for tubes and plungers in tableware manufacture where materials containing zirconia cause excessive initial seeding after refractory replacement.

Manufactured by the slip-casting process, all PSR feeder expendable compositions are direct bonded with strong ceramic bonds created at high firing temperatures without the use of added chemical reactants.

Forehearth Refractories are manufactured for most types of forehearth design including PSR’s own System 500 forehearth.

Material

  • SM-62 is the primary material used for forehearth & distributor superstructures and is an in-house development that combines high strength and low creep with excellent resistance to thermal shock. Single-piece roof blocks in SM-62 can be manufactured for forehearths up to 72” (1830mm) wide.
  • PSR-333 is also available for colouring forehearth superstructures and other aggressive roof block applications.

Channel Blocks and Distributor Blocks

Channel blocks are manufactured in PSR-333. This is the same refractory composition as used for feeder expendable refractories and has shown itself to be a proven performer for long forehearth life in more than a thousand forehearths installed to date. Its low thermal conductivity inhibits corrosion at the channel joints and the absence of glassy phase eliminates it as a source of ‘cat-scratch’ cord.

Distributor glass contact blocks are manufactured in PSR-993. This is an in-house development that offers fused-cast alumina refractory performance for a bonded refractory price. Containing 99.7% alumina PSR-993 is made entirely of alpha alumina and contains no glassy phase.
